The Graduate Symposium on Cultivating Innovative Talents of Powder Metallurgy Research Institute Was Successfully Held

To promote undergraduate teaching development and foster innovative talent, the Powder Metallurgy Research Institute successfully held an online graduatesymposium on innovative talent development on the evening of April 9, 2024. The meeting was hosted by Researcher Li Kai from the institute’s operations office and attended by Vice Dean of Teaching Zhang Yan, Deputy Director of the Student Affairs Office Zhang Cui, academic affairs staff, and 22 graduate representatives.

During the symposium, graduate representatives actively participated in the discussion. Zhang Siyu, an energy storage systems engineer at CRRC Zhuzhou Institute Co., Ltd, emphasized the importance of professional knowledge and communication skills in the workplace. Huang Shaozhen, a student pursuing a Ph.D. at the institute, suggested that the institute help lower-year students establish a subject framework more quickly through special lectures. Liu He, a graduate selected by the Hunan Provincial Party Committee, shared his fulfilling experience working at the grassroots level in a township and suggested that the institute hold more experience-sharing sessions to help younger students plan their careers earlier. Ren Mingze, currently pursuing a master’s degree at Xi’an Jiaotong University, discussed the importance of combining theory with practice and suggested the institute introduce more practice-oriented experiments. Feng Yunyue, employed by China Aero-Engine Corporation Guizhou Liyang Aviation Power Co.,Ltd, highlighted the essential role of communication and writing skills in the workplace and suggested that the institute provide more opportunities for reports and project sharing. Finally, Shi Zhanzhe, a project delivery manager at ZTE Corporation, recommended that the institute cultivate students' awareness of society and help them engage with it earlier.

In her concluding remarks, Vice Dean Zhang Yan expressed gratitude to the graduate representatives for their support of the institute's work and stated that the institute would carefully consider the suggestions made during the symposium to continuously improve teaching and management, creating a better learning environment for current students.

The successful organization of this graduate symposium not only provided graduates with a platform to share their experiences and insights but also offered valuable references for the institute’s undergraduate teaching reforms and development. With the joint efforts of faculty and students, the Powder Metallurgy Research Institute’s teaching standards and talent development quality are expected to improve further.
